a big thank you to all for a lovely weekend on the Yorkshire Dales run. Although the sun was out all weekend I still manage to get wet by falling in a stream.

I had promised everyone that the 21st Peak Run would be better than ever…boy oh boy was it a cracker. A full campsite was fed and entertained on the Friday night at Birchwood Farm. Saturday morning Belper Market Place was bursting at the seam’s with classic cars and a welcome by the Town Cryer.

So many people wanted to see ‘Ant and Dec’ but got ‘Dick and Dodge’ at the party in the evening. We had to put on extra buses to ferry the revellers to and from the campsite.

On the Sunday over 90 cars officially set off on the 21st Peak Run by Belper’s Mayor. The route taking you through the heart of Derbyshire, breath taking scenery and challenged your classic cars to the limits. All cars completed the run ending in Bakewell, where we all voted on our favourite cars. We ended the day with a large raffle raising £300 toward the Air Ambulance which treated us to a double fly past as we made ready to depart. I would like to thank all those who attended and supported us plus the Derwent Peak Run Team for their hard work in putting on this fantastic event.

In July some of the D.V. crew attended the Northant’s camping weekend where we were made very welcome and had a great time. Lot’s of sunshine, beer and a lovely bbq with the ‘naked chef’…you had to be there. Well done Adam and the Northant’s crew.

Things were a little different on Tuesday night’s meet at Smalley. Dave Dawson had put together a treasure hunt for us…so out in cars, looking for clues over a 14 and half mile run, in and around the local villages. Bonus points could be earned on collecting items like lipstick, a valve dust cap (David’s car was missing a few by the end of the night) and a TSSC membership card. The winners of the hunt were new members Scott and Sally Foster in their Spitfire from Swanwick. Well done to everyone.  Past member Brain Clayton also joined us although his Spitfire is not quite ready for the road yet after being stood for sometime.

The raffle went down well and we had a run down on future events by Mike. We finished off by putting my second place trophy from the Northants weekend people choice in the cabinet. I moved all Mike Mayfield’s aside for now to place mine right in the middle.

That’s all for now thanks a lot.
