April 2011
The March meeting was a good old noggin and a natter. Julie stayed relatively sober and Angie had a night off from being a chauffeur (that is until 10 o'clock). It was great to see Keith who had been absent for a couple of months and he confirmed that he is ready and raring to go planning the route of this years Peak Run. Mike Mayfield also paid us a surprise visit since his defection to Leicestershire and took a few more trophies out of the cabinet. One of the hot topics was our events calendar for 2011. I don't know how we are going to fit it all in. Apart from all the usual camping weekends and shows Derwent Valley have quite a programme for our monthly meets. These include a circular run in May, a fish and chip run in June, Classic Car meet and greet in July where all Classic Car owners and other Car Clubs are invited to join us for a beer and the chance to compare notes. In August we are out on a run whilst the nights are still light. On top of this we are embarking on a 50 mile plus run on 'Drive It Day' with a stop off for a pub lunch on the 17th April. Meet at Sainsburys in Ripley at 10am for a 10:30am start. Run entry fee only £3 per car. All welcome. In July a Carvery Run is being planned by Stuart. Oh I am forgetting the biggest and best Triumph Concours and Run weekend of the year - THE PEAK RUN in June. On the 2nd April Roger celebrates his 50th Birthday so join us at Smalley Common Ex-Serviceman's Club on the 5th April to help him celebrate and buy him a beer. You never know we might get a piece of Birthday cake. Also on 10th April the TSSC holds its AGM at Lubenham.
