Another quiet month for Derwent Valley and...

...with yet another round of snow, for the Spitfire sat in my back yard. 'Er Indoors is now continuously referring to "that pile of blue scrap". One day I am sure she will eat her words.

Anyway, we had our regular monthly get together on the 2nd March at Smalley, a small turnout but everybody enjoyed our 'touchy feely quiz' put together by Roger and David. This consisted of 5 sealed bags with 4 common household objects in each and 10 sealed bags (very well sealed thankyou David) with a 'Dinky' model of a Standard-Triumph vehicle.

Amazingly, with around 30 possible points + bonuses on offer, Kim and Paul were our winners with 27½ points. A very well done. In addition our newest members Dave and Tina made it a Hat Trick of Wooden Spoons, although this time it was Tina who owned up to it. I think they are lulling us into a false sense of security and will take the biggest Easter Egg in our Giant Easter Egg Raffle at our meeting on the 6th April. We are hoping to guarantee chocolate for all!!

Mike Mayfield was able to give us a roundup of forthcoming events and it sounds like we are in for a busy summer.

At a recent meeting there was a call for us to be represented at more events and I would like to echo that here. If any Derwent Valley members are going to events then please feel free to ask what facilities the area can lend out to help promote TSSC.

Now for a BIG BIT OF NEWS. On Tuesday 6th April we are starting our meeting at the earlier time of 7pm. This is because we have a visit arranged of Team Jigsaw along with ADU 1B which is the Spitfire that Jigsaw are taking to Le Mans. We will be raffling one of the squares on the Virtual ADU1B so one lucky winner could be taking a trip on a track in this very car. Having recently had a trip out in the car I can only say it is one of those WOW experiences. Please come along and support us on the night and help us to support Jigsaw at Le Mans 2010.

A reminder also that Derwent Valley are off to the seaside for Drive It Day on 25th April. All details are on our website with a possible three
starting points. This should be a great day out.

Finally, Planning is almost complete for this years Peak Run and we
already have a number of bookings. This year we are offering the run
free to Area Organisers, a saving to AO's of £12.50, and hope that we can offer the fantastic weekend the Peak Run has become famous for.
This year we finish the run in the beautiful Spa Town of Matlock Bath in a prime location to explore the shops and other delights. Details again are on the website.

See you all on the 6th April

Ian and Richard
